This coming Monday on Bring it on! I will interview Panthergirl of A Dog’s Breakfast. Why? Read the interview. She’s special; I like her blog and the way she mixes things up. And she’s a baby boomer from a borough who talks the talk and walks the walk. Want to know what I mean? Read the interview.

I also now have a new excuse for everything I might have done wrong or will do wrong in the future. The Judith Miller excuse: we can both be volatile because we’re half Russian Jewish and half Irish Catholic–in my case by birth not upbringing. Guess I only get half an excuse. Story of my life.

This coming Sunday November 13 I will have put Courting on Blog Explosion a year ago, and since then it’s had 157,000 page views lasting way over the 30 second BE thing.

When I first went on BE I was clueless. I had no idea what a blog roll or a link was. People would ask to exchange links and I would say “no,” simply because I had no idea what one was. Honestly don’t know why Courting seems to be on BE every two seconds or so I have been told.

I had begun Courting in August, 2004 for writing practice. But I kept it on Blogger and just wrote ocassionally in it. BE changed that. It’s been a wonderful experience.

Writers, all writers no matter what they say, crave feedback. Most of it’s been so great that the negative comments about my moral/values, they’re laughable.

The great comments: the comments about my writing; or somebody describing something it reminds them of, or sharing ideas, that’s amazing. I am so blessed. This is so weird; I can’t think of any words that describe how I feel.

Last year right after the election I put my blog on BE, and before I knew what was happening I became part of a community of bloggers. It’s been great. I have written so many different things in so many different voices and styles; for a writer to be able to do that and to have an audience. That’s a dream. Yes, I want it to pay in money. But it’s paid in so so so many ways.

Blogging can drive me crazy; but it’s usually a good kind of crazy

Thank you for reading Courting and for becoming part of my life.

Hey Pia- nice to reach another milestone in life, isn’t it? I joined BE almost a year ago myself, and have been astounded at the ease of getting out some thoughts to people you never could have reached before.

If the response has been great, it’s because you (and others too) touch a chord with people, and in this crazy world, that really says something.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

    Well done.
Just don’t let us wait for another one year before we can read the book.

    You are all woman.

    God bless.

Happy anniversary. The pleasure is mine. And I don’t “get” BE either, but they do serve you up like the catch of the day, and that’s where I found you.

  13. November 11th, 2005 at 03:13 | #13

Well, I sure am glad I found you. I guess I can thank BE for that.

    Happy Blogiversary (or something)!

I’m another one who is on BE and can’t figure it out. And yes, you DO pop up as a top banner about every 10 pages, it seems! I do believe that’s how I got here the first time, so it’s working for *you*, at least!

Congratulations for the 1 year BE anniversary. I don’t think your blog comes up every 2 seconds — it’s more like every 4 seconds or so ;)

I found your blog through BE, BTW. It shows BE is a good thing!

  20. November 12th, 2005 at 00:26 | #20

Ha ha! You know, I never thought about it, but before I started reading, and later commenting, Courting did seem to come up an awful lot on BE. I just figured either you were one of the founders of BE, or had hacked into their site ;-)

I just started blog explosion a week ago. I make a concerted effort to read and comment on as much as I find interesting as possible. I try to avoid the political stuff as much as possible. I know alot of people like to do the click bys to rack up points, but I just see blog explosion as a random way to broaden my horizons.

I’ll put you on my blogmarks.

How nice to take a walk down memory lane with you. Even nicer is that you express your appreciation to those who read your blog, whether periodically or on a regular basis.
There is something very special about you, Ms. Pia Savage, and that’s what brings me back. You being you.
