That was a great piece, Pia. It spanned several genres with alluring appeal connecting them seamlessly. What a fun and tantilizing read.

Ahhh, the perfect turn of phrase - over and over - superb writing! It just feels so nostalgic and wonderful. Also, love Raising Arizona - will have to add Sullivan's Travels to The List. Suddenly, I feel a slight hangover though, as any reference to the good old clubs of the 80's NYC can induce in me.

God is good. I lived long enough to read "In Sonoma in the ‘80’s when I was staying at Roger’s Yurt, with a group of French people I had first met at the Limelight" The rest of my life will be gravy. That just may be the best sentence of autobiography ever written.

FANTASTIC piece, PIA! I'm proud to be connected by link and personal history to it. (I was a different cowboy in the Eastern Sierra around then.)

Sage, Two great movies and Sullivan's Travels is hugely underappreciated. The Coen brothers can only dream of making something that wacky.

I'm just trying to figure out why anyone would (voluntarily) move to the Armpit of California, aka Bakersfield. :)
