Some friends and I jockeyed a sailboat a few years ago from the North Cove in BPC, up the Hudson, to the 79th street boat basin. We left at 5:30 AM and got there maybe a little after 1 PM. A little less than 7 miles in a little less than 8 hours: that’s sailing. (Its a leisurely 3.5-hour walk.)

I liked the place, and have been back once or twice since — but by way of the 2-3 line, which is a much more sensible way to go.

I always love, love, love little neighborhood stuff that you find that’s fantastic that no one else knows about.

Gives you a sense of ownership. Especially if other people start catching on.

There’s a breakfast place that we used to go to; no wait, no lines, no nothing. Fantastic food. Of course, word started getting around, and now we have to call an hour or two ahead to get in.

But the owners still know us when we come in.
