Having had an interest in Titanium for many years, I find your post an interesting read, Whilst I am not totally in agreement with some of your points, I must say it is well written.

Warren Zevon was dying of lung cancer at the same time as my son's dad (Tony died in October of that year), and left us "The Wind" as well as all of his Tom Waits CDs. I can barely listen to "Keep Me In Your Heart" without blubbering. It is so beautiful, so poignant and means a lot to my son and me.

Also, on the other topic, I too love Leaving Las Vegas and Requiem for a Dream (although "love" is probably a weird word to use for that film. It is so powerful but so disturbing, too.)

Happy 2nd Bloggaversary!

There are several other clips on YouTube, too. Search the site for Zevon Letterman.

Pia, Just reading this my heart feels a little heavy. I believe Warren Zevon was one of the most talented singer songwriters to come out of the California scene during the 1970's. I love his work, his voice, his words. By the way, as a big fan do you remember the album he did as the Hindu Love Gods (early 90's covered Prince's Raspberry Beret on it). Carmelita is a beautiful song. I don't have the cd but may have to go out and get it. I remember watching the making of the album (on VH1, I think), oh did I cry. But a real testament to Warren and his talents were those that came out to record on it and help him through it, quite a who's who.

Excellent song choice.

Serial subject blogger... not sure I follow.

We're the same about songs. I have tried to obsess everyone around me with The Mars Volta, Eric Clapton, The Band, and Pink Floyd, among others.

Can see why you love his songs. You probably know I love Knockin on Heaven's Door

Don't usually moderate comments and won't often, but do feel compelled to point out that Technorati is the industry standard and I do shine there

If Alexa uses sitemeter, and I don't know as I don't know it, the visits and page views are screwy, and don't reflect the real number.

Just thought that I would point that out :-)

Thank you, thank you Shayna

Welcome back PC--you were missed

Cooper songmodes are us

Janet, "The Wind" is brilliant, and I'm too tired to say more

I did join the group bc I think it's a great idea, but I havent gotten around to picking out my songs yet. Such pressure involved in choices like that!

Believe it or not, I don't think I know the song you mentioned.
