On a night like tonight almost anything can happen–my first podcast

November 7, 2006 By pia 15 Comments

I ran into the summer of 86. Wow. I dated the most gorgeous, sweetest, smartest man who went on to become a zillionaire. We ran into each other at a place where my world’s collide, Rafe’s hair salon, two blocks and an Avenue from my old apartment on East 63rd Street.

86 was an amazing summer I forgot about my summer fling, but…need some time to process this.

Why didn’t it work? The mini-series should be out soon. That might begin to answer some questions. I’m in old romance heaven. A lot better than old romance hell.

Next week Rafe and I are going to do a podcast if I remember how to. He answers that always burning question: “what it is really like to be Pia’s good friend.” He won’t say until the podcast. Claims that it will ruin the moment, and began mumbling: “woman, woman, woman….” Personally I think he’s gone round the bend because answering is too much pressure.

Remember back to last Christmas when Fox News was singing it? Oh how sad we are for poor poor fox news. Yeah! Sometimes victory is sweeter because the opponents were so much nastier.

Obviously I had no idea what I was doing. Listen!

Yes my first horrible but very me podcast. I think that you need quicktime–it’s http://web.mac.com/piasavage–this is just in case you can’t get it through the listen

At Stop the A___ which I read so that you don’t have to, they’re claiming that the media and pollsters have “purposely” been misleading the Democrat’s strength. And I remember the days that they used to call us poor deluded people. And much worse, but we’re nicer. Something that they hold against us.

I’m sure that they think my voice is shrill, New Yawkish, and every sick stereotype. Sorry.

Ted Kennedy just won. He is the only senator who can not be bought, and will never do anything but the right thing. He has paid for his “sin.” He lost three brothers and two sisters–I include Rosemary–to tragedy.

I have to get used to the term “Governor Spitzer.” It does sound strange.

CNN just projected that the Democrats will be the majority in the House. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2008—just wait. After two years of fighting some of the sickest minds in the blogosphere, this feels so sweet. I did stop fighting when I realized that we could never change many peoples minds. It just wasn’t worth using a good font.

I really hate politics anyway. Just think that the Florida election began a swift descent down some horrible roads, or maybe it began with the Impeachment or before with Newt. He began it for me. I saw entire social services networks knocked out. 9/11 would have been a hell of a lot easier with them in place–and nobody ever talks about that.

Of course nothing is going to change overnight. But the times they are a changin, and we can at least begin going down good roads. Moral roads. Honest election roads. Find a way to get out of Iraq roads. No more stupid wars to satisfy ego roads.

I’m losing my voice again. If the podcast doesn’t work, I will sing some songs I wrote yesterday this weekend and really really try. Of course I’m tone deaf and can’t sing. But I think that yesterday I had some great tunes. I might be a bit enamored with just being able to speak. Though I’m losing my voice again for reasons that I will go into later in the week. And I can’t read my own handwriting.

Usually I can work up some sympathy for bad politicians who lose and their president. But sympathy for Bush?

WOW MAJORITY LEADER NANCY PELOSI, WOW

I hope every girl stayed up to listen to her speech. WOW A WOMAN IS IN CHARGE OF THE HOUSE; A GOOD WOMAN

Bone has Three Word Wednesday which I really will do on Friday.

Listen to my voice!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate exclamation points but I’m so excited—and I sound so stupid πŸ™‚

And Dan has some fascinating things to say. He boggles my mind. Dan’s a true original thinker and there are so few good ones. He’s one

You “sound” great in this post, Pia, fully recovered. Must be all the “!”s.

You could, maybe, write a book about the therapeutic benefits of winning a mid-term election?

That was too cool and great voice. Not too New Yawkish at all.

Shouldn’t a woman be in charge of the house?

    Bye

Oh now you’ve done it, Pia. We already knew you were a great story writer, but now we know you’d make a great story teller. I’m ready to hear more!

Live from Riverside Drive! Loved it. Stayed up late watching the results. Change is in the wind for sure. So hopefully we’ll be hearing those songs?

Drink those liquids and get that rest!

I’m with the others. That was great. You have a pleasant, fun voice. If that makes any sense. It adds a whole other dimension to the blog.

    Do it again πŸ™‚

And thanks for the link, as always.

    Here’s something to think about.

    Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, right?

The Speaker of the House is third in line to the Presidency… didn’t see that much mentioned in the news yet…

My first blog post after Nov 7th went something like this, “WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

Yes, Democrats tend to be far nicer people in my observation, generally.

Happy Democratic Majority Pia, I was thinking of you as I sat glued to the TV late that night..

when you started out, I thought you were talking about me and that you must of been “that girl” from NY in ’86, but I read on and he became a zillionaire, so it must not of been me… I haven’t checked out your podcast yet, should I now download you with everything else to my ipod–is your podcast uplifting–like the kind of stuff you want to listen to in the gym?

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
