Here’s an article on the culinary delights of my hood

I am currently doing a coffee taste test between Fairway, Zabars, and the West Side Market. Don’t like Zabar’s. Their prepared food is too old fashioned for me. However their coffee….

More importantly don’t rain on me and call it…..

He said 1.7 inches of rain fell in Central Park between 6 and 7 a.m.

Something woke me up at 6:10 this morning. Rain was coming out of my bedroom AC. It was amazing. I have friends who took the red eye in from Las Vegas last night. Hope they made it to their hotel.

There was a tornado in Brooklyn. Before three weeks ago when one hit Long Island that was unprecedented.

Today was the day from hell. That’s all. Yeah, I get that almost two inches of rain fell in an hour, but the city’s infrastructure should be able to deal with most of it. Make that three inches

Now people have to get home

What good is having great modern buildings when there are constant brown outs (reductions in power) because Con Ed our electricity company can’t deal with heat spells and rain?

Con Ed and the city did forget about 250,000 people in Queens for four days last summer. Don’t think much has changed except that my bill goes constantly up

I’m only a recent coffee drinker. After 7 years now in Seattle, it had to happen at some point I guess. I’m finding out why they call it ‘Starburnt’, and discovering the good local coffee instead. Can’t beat a good latte on a wet Seattle morning. Thank God for decaf. I can’t deal with the coffee shakes. :-) One of my local favourites is Zoka’s, although we call them ‘slowkas’ because of the arrogant and slightly lazy baristas that can take up to 15 minutes to make a latte. Still, I go back. The coffee is good.

Catching up on post-vacation blog reading…

Choosing a good coffee shop is like choosing a decent winery…very difficult. I’m limited to four, one of which is in the building in which I work…

A little rain actually sounds nice. It hasn’t really rained here since May. But then it never does.

I just missed the tornado by a day. Monday in New York was cooler, compared to Sunday when I was frying at Yankee Stadium! At least Matsui hit his 100th homer!

Have a great night, Pia! Hope you’re staying cool!

Yesterday was utter chaos! I can’t believe how badly Bay Ridge was hit. I had no idea anything was wrong until I got up to the subway station and they said there were no trains. I live in Sunset Park and I didn’t even know it rained! Then again, I don’t have a window in my room. But at least I don’t have to pay to go to a sauna.
