People have given up somehow. It's probably part of the daily experience of living in the States and being subjected to the daily bombardment of the fascist leaning media. I believe Americans living abroad, out of this system have held more hope. I could never understand why the entire population over the years has turned into sheep. Although truly a bizarre experience, I realised that most of the people I think of as 'Republican types' I met there, such as Marine Colonels and FEMA suits, were all really just good hearted people, trying to do their best to help other people out in a possible emergency. I wish the politicians would all do the same, no matter what side they're on. Why does it take potential emergencies before people come together? Ward, famines, etc. We should all be facing the same direction regardless, not bluffing each other with silly news stories about Britney, etc. I was humbled by the Homeland Security meeting I went to here at the weekend.
