I understand...even though I lived about as far away from NYC as possible, I know the buzz that was in the air, the land in the 1970's. How it was not all about the money, how Yuppies was not a word yet, how it was our salad days....

I love Frank Rich but dislike Krugman so don't let him scare you.
Besides I think the best for you is yet to come.

I'll mimic Doug's Happy Hannukah.

Krugman seems to always overstate everything while Pia seems to always understate. He's kind of right, though. This will be bumpy.

I mostly came by to wish you happy Hannukah and got a story about the old days as a gift.

Great title. Your post transported us to another time/place. I'm pretty sure that's what drew me in from my first visit. You write about something so painful but with a tone that says you've healed which is wonderful.

By the way, I think it may be "the opening of an envelope..." :)

but for the most primal and real of all reasons

Great line, 'tor. What a wonderful tale, hearing some of the good things about Zachary. I'm glad you can still see them. I think I tend to look back on the good things about past relationships, as well.

And I was just thinking the other day about when I first moved out on my own, struggling, didn't have much, but they were good times.

But, um, *you* ate chicken wings??? And you have issues with my diet :)
