As Destiny doesn’t come calling

A neurotic’s guide to blog awards

This is very confusing to me. Have been thinking a lot about how many people make money off Bloggers with RSS feeds, and other ancillary services. Many blogs are tech or service oriented blogs designed to sell products if not directly then somehow through them..

Am trying to say that there is an entire industry being built around blogging where everybody profits but the bloggers. And we do the work that keeps them in business. So maybe there is a justification to being recognized by your peers in blog awards.

I spend my life writing. This was the first weekend in a long long time I did something every night except Friday because of the snot in the soup problem. When I’m not writing for my blog(s); I’m writing my book which is way different in style and content. I write content for websites, not mine, and do some freelance PR writing because it brings in some money and I enjoy selling things that aren’t me.

Have a problem selling me. I might come off like a lion, but I’m basically quiet, except when I’m not. Used to be the one with the glitter hot sox emergencies, now I buy Hot Sox for my eleven year old niece who secretly loves the wild shag carpet purple ones, but wears the preppy, striped one in public.

So I really have to thank Cat and somebody else, familiar to Courting readers, for nominating me for a BOB. Courting’s not an easy blog to categorize, and tends to have long posts. Each person who left a comment in my prior post–you have my heart. Thank you so much. And now a few other people; I’m overwhelmed, and love you all.

I’m finding this to be a bit overwhelming. I want to be a competitive person but am really not. I like working in a team. I love it when everyone gets along. Many people put much work into their blogs and it shows. OMG, I’m beginning to talk myself down from this; I’m starting to want my nominations withdrawn. No, no, no. My get-competitive-tutor will be angry.

I know the odds of Courting wining are about as big as Jessica getting back with Nick, unless they have already—okay Jennifer getting back with Brad, or me meeting James Spader. As more and more people find him weird but fascinating, I just find him fascinating

There are so many people that I want to nominate for awards I haven’t been able to put together a list. Actually just found out about these awards today. If I mention men bloggers more than women bloggers, I come from a world where men are generally sarcastic though they have good hearts. The male bloggers I know are openly sensitive and I just love that…

I don’t like snarkiness. Don’t see the need to try to out snark everybody else. Do have an exception to that rule because I learn from it, but I find that most snarky bloggers try to out cool each other. With so much hate in the world today, we don’t need that. Some people can do snarky humor with great finesse. The Bastard at Bring it on! is one such person. But I adore him so that might color it; and political blogs are different.

I can be rather snarky in the political arena. Don’t like it though and really try to limit my commenting on political blogs, even in my own threads. Don’t like it when it spills over here; and sometimes I will get a comment that will trigger the snark within me.

Have finally learned to leave jealous angry comments alone. But it’s so hard, because I want to say:
“Don’t read my blog(s) selectively. Don’t judge me on the basis of certain things. Almost all lives looks better on the outside.”

Then I think that the people who read my blog understand and don’t read it selectively.

I award myself the Al Gore and John Kerry Award for Shooting Myself in the Foot Instead of Campaigning. If anybody would like to be nominated for this award leave a comment along with the category and the reason why you feel you deserve it. This post is reason enough for me to be nominated and win. Especially since I just invented it.
