With Cooper on her way to Hawaii, or in it, I just feel so uninspired. Really I feel overwhelmed and amazed. Some of the blogs nominated are wonderful; put one on my blogroll already, and know that I will read more of them. There is much talent in the blogosphere. We all seem to have our little worlds; I thought that they intersected more.
Have humbly found out that they don’t. I’m having a really difficult time writing this post because I have to stifle the urge to be overly clever and make everybody like me. That’s absurd as I have always been liked or disliked; never in the middle. While I usually like that there are times I just want to disappear into the middle of the screen.
Wanted the blog whore nomination. Thought that I went around screaming “link me, link me, or you will suffer.” If I haven’t, I have meant to. That’s a joke; I’m just not the link whore type.
Might put this up now. I will have a post on Bring it On! tomorrow, Thursday the 29th that I think is one of my personal best political posts.
Feel as if I should put a best post link or something like that. Unfortunately I can only understand how to do “pages” on the top of Courting, and she likes to be on top. I’m so technically challenged that I should be in a relic museum.
Am having a girls night in with Lucia and Rafe tonight. Rafe might be a straight macho Latin male, but he loves to hang out with us. Lucia never takes days off from work, and she’s taking tomorrow and Friday. Hope she will come to The Museum of Natural History with me to see the Darwin exhibit. I want to do city things but so does everybody else. My sister and niece came in yesterday to meet some friends and go to Madame Toussaint Wax Museum. My sister can be, uh, quite sophisticated, and she expected to hate it. Loved it, and made me promise to go.
While many natives might leave, many of us stay. I stay because I’m childless and don’t want to be around ten thousand screaming kids, though I can just go into my building’s lobby and am guaranteed to run into at least five kids under ten. I also stay because right now my money’s literally tied to my mouth. Sometimes I think I keep dentists in business.
January’s a good month to do touristy things in New York if you live here. It used to be a great month but tourists like us, they really like us. While I love to complain about that; we have gone through too much in the past four years to complain a lot. Of course, I can and will complain when I feel like it. All my rules, and everything that I say about not blogging or taking the weekend off are subject to change without notice.
If you’re new to Courting good luck! I would begin with last January; I spent New Years Eve in Central Park, and it was grand. Oh, I don’t know. If any readers have any favorites can they leave a comment with the post name?
Will spend tomorrow ruminating on how to make Courting more user friendly with a minimum of work. Any suggestions are more than welcome. Rude and crude ones, no. They’re instantly deleted.
People often type me and Courting. Usually they’re wrong. We have many personalities, moods, effect and demeanor. Yes, we have had too much therapy; yes one of us is a therapist who isn’t practicing.
We sometimes speak in the royal we; we sometimes use you to distance ourselves from the story, and because we like using you.
There are many subjects in Courting; we can’t stick to one type of post. I lived in Manhattan in the 70’s and 80’s when everything was fun and affordable. I am in love with my own life.
Probably could give a better explanation but was expected at Lucia’s an hour ago. Also like to be discovered slowly. I wouldn’t want anybody to know the whole me in five posts.

I’m sure I had something more interesting to say, but I lost my thought somewhere between Hawaii and NYC.;) Anyway have a great ladies night out!
I’m having a hard time finding the articles I wanted to recommend, so I’ll come back when I have more time. For now, here are the topics:
The story of when you moved into the apartment which had previously been a madame’s
The story of your “meeting” with John Gotti
The story of your apartment with the junkies.
Figure you out in 5 posts? HA! I’ve been reading Courting for over 6 months & am still amazed at your posts. That means either I’m really slow or you’re really complex. I’m hoping it’s the latter.
You rock Pia!
I’d love to spend New Year’s Eve in Hawaii…getting lai’ed. Har har. As it is, I’ll be in NYC. At the Knitting Factory to be exact.
Good observation on people making money off of bloggers, I’ve been noticing that more and more as I dive deeper into the culture.
I took a look at the awards site — it was really hard to read. I’m intrigued by the categorization, too. My favorite blogs are like yours — they can’t be categorized. It’s interesting how there seems to be a lot of bloggers making up rules for blogging. Makes me feel like I have to be more clever than I am, too, and that’s just weird. I don’t know…I guess maybe it’s just an example of the different sub-cultures within the blogging culture itself.
Come on Pia!
Where’s your “It’s just such an honor to be nominated” speech?
I can already see you up there with the award, saying, but there were so many other deserving nominees this year, I feel so proud just to be counted among them and I never thought I’d win…
;)
Could you just put a sticky right at the top entry of your blog saying “Nominated for Best of Blogs Award” with a link to the vote (and btw how do you vote? I feel a bit dense asking that but I just went over to the BOBS site & I don’t get how it works). That way you’re letting readers know (I mostly mean new ones, bet all of us regulars know already), without having to plug yourself in every new post.
(I posted this on Frogma in response to yours but figured I’d post it here too).
Figure you out?
I thought I nailed it when you you described yourself as the Courting Destiny figurine; posts that show signs of extreme high-society fashion…
I give up.
