I have been thinking a lot about Obama and FISA. It’s impossible to agree with his stance and I have to believe that it’s a compromise or so I tell myself.
Yesterday I was reading a New York based blog that usually doesn’t talk about politics. I’m biased against it for many reasons but it consists of “average” New Yorkers. New Yorkers do love shouting about real estate. The anti-Obama sentiment (nothing to do with FISA) was scary.
As I’m living in the Bible Belt, and blog, everywhere I turn in New York people ask me if others–”not us”–get two things: Obama and Seinfeld
I know they “get” Seinfeld. We have to talk Obama up. We have to beg him to vote against FISA and understand that if he does perhaps it’s a compromise to be elected. We can’t let McCain win. The outcome is too important. I won’t go into almost full Social Security age in a Republican America.
The price of oil is affecting everything. I don’t believe it would have gone up this drastically under a Democrat, certainly not Al Gore. I’m already selling my apartment as I know it’s the prudent thing to do and probably good for me for other reasons but economics plays a very large part in this decision.
An unaffordable New York isn’t a comfortable New York. The people on the board I linked to want to preserve what they have and have their resources grow. We grow under a Democratic administration. We do horribly under a Republican one.
Let Obama know what you think about his probable vote. But vote for him. Your future and my future depends on it and I want a good one.
If New Yorkers talk like this….
