Pia, You are always so compelling in your writing. I start and I cannot stop until the final period.

The Boston Bombing was such a shock for us all. My daughter runs marathons and probably dreamed of running in Boston one day or at least going to see it. Dream are shattered all over the place when hate runs rampant.

Feel better please. This one gets tweeted up again. Oh, give that Google guy a call. What is up with that?

Hi Pia:

It's amazing how scattered we can become when we have so much on our minds. I've been forgetful too these last few weeks. Hopefully, now that tax season is over and done with until next year, life will be a little less discombobulated.

The Boston Bombings were certainly painful, and I'm sorry you're feelings surrounding 9-11 have resurfaced recently. This has to be hard for you and a lot of people reliving trauma.

Your feelings are real. Your troubles aren't as big as losing a child or a body part. But you are entitled to feel what you are feeling.

I hope today is better, and that tomorrow will be better than today.

Much love to you.

Hang in there Pia. I always hate tax day (cause I wait till the last minute to mail a check to the IRS), but the news from Boston made that seem trivia.

You're right about this not being a real show. I watched, and when I saw Becky, the daughter of the land lady, something looked familiar. She is a professional actress. She starred in a movie called "Camp" which came out a while ago. She could really be an actress whose family runs a trailer park, and she wound up back home after her career went nowhere, but that seems like a stretch.

Thank you for your remembrance of Jeff. I knew him as a cousin. That is to say, our mother's were sisters. I lived about 15 min from Jeff at the end. He and I spoke a few days before his death. He was happy. I was later told that his happiness may have been because he had resolved to end it and he was relieved. I read some of the work that he composed over the last couple of years of his life. He was brilliant, creative, and bitter. His stream of consciousness was a wild river, without an outlet. The Nashville music business was not kind to him. He was post-mature by the time he arrived. I think the burden of genius and unfulfilled promise was too much. I remember Jeff with admiration, fondness, and frustration.

Somehow I'm reminded of seeing Spaulding Grey perform in Prospect Park a couple of years before he died. It was a fascinating show - instead of doing a monologue, he chose to show that everyone has an interesting story if you'll just take the time to listen. He did that by working with randomly-chosen audience members, picked from the line before the show. The only person from whom he failed to elicit a story that wasn't poignant, humorous, interesting or all three was the uptight lawyer from Park Slope, who turned into a clam onstage. He really should've just told Spaulding he didn't want to do it.

Reality shows, on the other hand, mostly seem to be about making their subjects look like freaks these days. I don't really get them.

Welcome back to blogging, btw!

Pia, have you ever watched Portlandia. It is so really stupid but absolutely the truth! I think the people in Portland watch it because they need a good laugh and a lot of reality (get over yourself kind of stuff).

Here I am. :)
