I’m not the average New Yorker. Being without children and having some money takes me out of that category.
However Lucia who has been my friend since the 1970’s can speak with more authority on the problems facing Manhattanites.
Lucia is an extremely talented artist. She used to do ornamental plaster work, faux finishes and was a girl contractor at a time when there were few girls doing that.
She gave it up for a steady paycheck, steady hours, and to spend more time with her daughter.
Before Lucia was a mommy we used to run all over New York regardless of the night doing whatever we wanted to do. I get exhausted just thinking about the way we lived then.
It was fun; but I’m not sure that I miss it.
I do miss all our friends who died, but that’s for another time. So our escapades which will be in a book…
