Someday in the not too distant future I will learn to upload photos to WordPress so that they don’t take over the world; y’all know that’s what I plan to do anyway 😉 However since I can’t upload the photos normally I began a photoblog on blogger.
This is the moon as seen by my apartment. It was taken by Rafe who used to be a photographer for NASA. I’m good but not up to his level yet. However… You really have to look at the photos from the last first to get them in order that I put them in–I have to learn how to put them into WordPress without them being gigantic. Or I have to start a fotoblog; but I was using Picassa, and yes Lucia it was very easy. Lucia and Rafe sat through all 337 pictures in my slide show and win the best friend award. Oh they already had that one. Lucia actually asked for a repeat performance!
I was able to publish some more photo’s; I took all but the moon. I had a picture of part of my apartment and took it out. It felt too personal as if I were exposing a part of me marked private. Somehow photographs feel more personal than words to me
Next I will do some rear window ones! My bedroom faces north and I can see some lovely water towers. Love water towers, pipes, chimmneys, even walls when they’re not too close to my house. I picked this apartment for many reasons; one was what’s called “the open city view.” That means that it gets much sunlight–when there is and I never feel confined.
Last spring during an eclipse I wanted to go outside and view it from the park. Rafe is lazy when he isn’t becoming a Madison Avenue hair salon owner/mogul–wanted to watch it from my swivel chairs. We had to sit with our heads up and stuck halfway out the window.
Don’t tell him I said so but he was right; the view was fantastic. But I didn’t have my Nikon then and he didn’t bring a camera.
I say that Rafe is becoming a sole owner/mogul, with a giant sigh, because I spent much of last year encouraging him to begin a salon without a partner. It was something that he had long wanted to do but was scared of. I understand that fear. Usually I wouldn’t encourage people to take giant leaps that cost much money and could fail, but I knew that he could do it.
His salon did well during the summer. If you do well on Madison Avenue during July and August the rest of the year should be simple. I have known many hair stylists and salon owners. Rafe’s the best person as many of the owners of fabled salons can attest to. When their leases run out or something happens to their salons, Rafe’s always provided a home.
He’s an amazing friend who has always been there for me. The doormen in my building and the super think we’re having an affair. We’re not, but I let them think that, and I let him talk to the doorman man-to-man (whatever that means) so that the super will stop coming into my apartment without notice.
Rafe’s my secret weapon in my building war, and I love him much.
I closed comments on my blogger photo blog. This is the place for personal comments or comments about my writing. Comments about my politics or if you just hate me because of them belong at Bring it on! Where I will return this Tuesday the 23.
I hope my regular readers understand that I’m more than my politics. My biggest hope for my country (and almost surprisingly, me) is that we can close this divide.
In my year of blogging intensively I have learned a great deal but the biggest thing that I have learned is that most people want to like each other. Actually I haven’t been blogging intensely for a year but it sounds better than eight months.
For the rest of the week I will probably be posting a picture with a long caption. Now if I can just get it on WordPress without taking over the blog!
nice photos… will read post later, just had to sneak a peak.. nighty…
Love the pics! I can’t believe what you see when you look out your window. I am currently in the most busy area that I have ever lived in and I still see corn fields. The energy there must be fantastic! I look forward to more pics.
Nice window view, nice pics.
Chimneys and water towers are also ideal as photgraphic elements, they make me feel good. sic
Do you have a prgram like photoshop? You can just duplicate the photos and make the copy smaller or upload them to imageshack and get a thumbnail to post in your blog and people can see the small picture and click on the thumbnail for a large picture
wow those pics are way too cool! i was thinking how cool ny was, til i read you were here in cali! i’ve only been to venice once & never to coronado. i’d wanna steal that bench too! the sunsets were awesome. cant wait to see more photos!
it occurred to me that you could use FlickR, as that might be simpler than using blogger. but it’s up to you..
Great photos, P.
