See The Bastard's 9/11 tribute

September 11, 2005 By pia

The Bastard, at Bring it on, has written a beautiful tribute. Cranky’s video is on the sidebar, and on his site

I wrote a 9/11 post and put it in draft. I’m tired of depressing myself and others.

For other tributes please see library lady mom, Panthergirl, and Lastgirl

Haven’t been laughing much the past two weeks. I will take laughing any day over crying. However I only know two jokes. I have told them both and they’re both horrible.

Can tell funny stories and will again, but if you know any jokes…

For some reason (perhaps because I’m using a Mac?) I can’t read the full text of T.B.’s message. It runs well past the original message, and is overlaid onto the messages below it. And when I try to click on the comment links or permalinks, it just brings me back to that same page.

Is anybody else having this problem???

I can’t read it either (also a Mac user).

As far as jokes go, my son saw me weeping as I watched the memorial service this morning. After the first two moments of silence, he tried to lighten the mood by saying, “Mom, if we have moments of silence for all the bad things that are happening, by 2008 we’ll be mimes.”

Of course, it just made me cry more.

Was kinda looking forward to hearing what you had to say on this date, Pia. But I think maybe I understand somewhat.

I don’t feel like talking about the hurricane anymore. Don’t even like watching the news coverage. There’s only so much of it I can take, but then I feel selfish because there are thousands of people who are having to live thru it.

FWIW, it is a mac issue. I was able to finally view it when I went and logged on to our PC.

    Really touching…a great tribute.

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
