Bring it on! Shades of Gray

October 22, 2005 By pia

Bring it on! has only been around since last March. In that short time we have grown incredibly.

Please go there sometime this weekend. There is some damn fine writing, and I’m not talking about me, plus some exceptional videos

I put up a very revised version of the post under this one on Bring it on!

Here’s the deal: Usually I say “if you want to fight/argue/discuss/and everything else my stances with me go to Bring it on!”

My character, or moral values as some people say isn’t one of the things, I will ever debate.

Why am I over stressing this to the point of boring my readers, and possibly losing some?

It points out somethings that are basic to the divide facing this country. I read a fabulous quote by George Washington

IN OUR COUNTRY WE WILL OFFER BIGOTRY NO SANCTION, AND PERSECUTION NO ASSITANCE

Unfortunately it was in a sidebar in New York Magazine about a tour of “old Jewish New York.”

Somehow I think the people who take my character apart will find anything written in New York Magazine suspect.

When I Googled it could only find it in the New York Magazine website.

I found a quote that I liked and put up on Bring it on!

If anybody has been having trouble with the so called Christian radical right please leave a comment here or at Bring it on! or email me.

Nobody deserves to have their character assailed. Call them “so called Christian radical right,” because a true Christian doesn’t judge but walks in others shoes, etc, etc.

Wednesday will be devoted to Boston Legal the one network show that actually gives a damn about preserving rights for all Americans. Plus of course I have a mega crush on James Spader, and like or love all the other characters.

Denny Crane (William Shatner) is mourning his lost youth and failing, at times, mental capacity. I’m more Allan Shore’s (James Spader) age and like him feel things intensely. And while I might not always like or approve of his methods, it’s obvious that he cares and has a multi layered sense of morality.

Life’s not in black and white but shades of gray. Here’s to all the shades of gray thinkers!

Back to stories sometime next week; back to your blogs then too. Have to wash this week away somehow. Could go out where it’s been hailing, but I’m just too cold

    but I’m just too cold.
    …………………………..
How I wish I could be obliged to keep you warm whenever you are cold.

I just want you to be warm always.
    No cold. No flu.
    So you won’t be blue.

You know I read “Bring It On” and also “The Bulldog Manifesto”.
They are fast becoming institutions in the blogosphere of American politics.

    God bless.

Pia I agree one thousand percent. When I am asked to guest blog I realise I am opening myself up to the closed minded, the haters, ..and I will pull the bitch out and get nasty.
But on my own blog..that is my diary. If you don’t like it, or the opinions therein..take your ass on. I will remove them and actually go to their sites and tell them in no uncertain terms that they are not to return. Because if they do..I’ll come BACK to their blog..and I’ll bring my posse. A group of very intelligent individuals that know how to give someone a mental spanking.
    That works.
    Your space is your space.

I agree that we shouldn’t label others. I must admit sometimes I’m very guilty of this, but usually only when Tarzan & I are present. I find Democrats are more forgiving, willing to meet half way, less judgemental, open minded and are capable of enjoying others that are shades of gray other than their own.
But that’s why they’re Democrats, it’s their nature. The same, giving, caring, helping the poor, the homeless, the mentally ill…the things that Jesus talked about. Ironic, isn’t it?

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
