If you’re here from Michele’s thank you. I will be to your blogs this weekend.
Carly, my sister’s sister in law was eight then. She was in love with Ed Sullivan; so in love with him she wrote him letters each week asking if she could be a guest on the show. She drove her parents and olderbrother crazy whining about Ed Sullivan
Finally two tickets arrived. Her father took her. They couldn’t understand why the audience was filled with teenage girls screaming. There was almost a riot. Carly was scared as was her father, though Lou wouldn’t admit it to her then. They were attempting to make their way out of the row, when four English boys walked onto the stage.
And so my sister’s sister-in-law saw The Beatles in their first American appearance.
Hello there, Michele sent me …
Nice site, will look around.
Your sister’s sisterinlaw was a lucky gal!!
Hello, here via Michele’s. Congrats on being the SOTD.
I was a wee young thing when John was shot, and while I don’t recall where I was, I do recall being madly obsessed with the lyrics of Strawberry Fields at about that time.
It’s cool that your s-s-i-l got to see the boys first hand.
Cheers!
Great story, particularly today. Hi, Michele sent me.

My mouth literally dropped open. Great story. What a once in a lifetime event. Michele sent me. Congrats on site of the day.
I’ve always wished I was somewhere when something important happened… Ed Sullivan, Dealey Plaza, Ford’s Theater…
I always find myself wishing I’d stumble upon history. How awesome for her!

Hi! Congrats for being Michele’s site of the day!
That’s a neat memory…
Hi Michele sent me. So, which ended up impressing her more at the end of the day? Did she swap loyalties and become an avid Beatles fan?
Interesting. I’m old enough to have watched Ed Sullivan on occasion but too young to have seen it regularly. Past my bedtime and all that.
Michele sent me to see your lovely blog.
My goodness, what a wonderful sight that must have been. When I see the old footage of that show, I realize how cute & HOT they were. Their hair, suits, just everything.
Ed Sullivan definately was on to something!
How absolutely amazing that must have been for her, even if she didn’t realize it at the time!! What a most appropriate subject for today Pia. As always, you are just right on.
Hey… congrats on being site of the day, and cool post!
Michele sent me.
Not here via Micheles…lol
I don’t know a whole lot about it but looking at those old shows and seeing those girls screaming and crying make me laugh. WTF was going on there.
Oh and if I could only get a window in my dorm room open I would die of happiness.
I’m probably your sister-in-laws age as I was a teenager and watched Ed Sullivan. It would have been really exciting to be there in person. It was pretty thrilling just watching on black and white TV.
Your site is gorgeous. Congrats on being the SOTD . Michele sent me!
