My first ever contest

December 20, 2005 By pia

I’m having my first ever contest. Haven’t decided what the winner will get yet; maybe a virtual trip to New York during a transit strike, or I don’t know I…am capable of having a contest to decide what the contest will win.

GLOB had decided that my song was “Wonderful tonight,” which just happens to be on my all time top ten list.

Bone asked me what his song would be. This is difficult. Bone’s a very straight yet sensitive Alabaman. Think that’s what you call somebody who lives in Alabama. He has college football scores on his site.

The obvious song would be “Sweet Home Alabama.” But wait:

Bone can recite dialogue from every episode of Seinfeld He’s having a Festivus party. Bone’s a darn good writer; can do great dialogue, talk out his problems, or more usually is very very funny.

As I stare at my TV Guide glass; have four, usually save them for company, I’m looking at the picture of Luke & Laura who symbolize the 80’s, and I’m thinking: damn, Bone got me rehooked on General Hospital You have no idea how long it took me to wean myself off that show. But it’s gotten good again, and I no longer have to keep the cable on ABC and thus not watch anything else during the week. Did I mention that I hated GH by the end, but I just couldn’t give it. However now with a DVR, I can record other stations and only watch an episode a week or scroll though them.

If you’re not familiar with his blog look at it; it’s good.

What song would you pick for Bone?

Bone paid me to write this. No he didn’t; but if you would like to pay me to write a post…

OK, if he’s such a big Seinfeld fan then his song should be the theme from “The Greatest American Hero”, and he should know why. 😉

While I no longer watch GH, I think any old school GH’er could only pick the song, “Rise”
Old timers will remember this song from the Luke/Laura relationship’s beginnings. I’ll say no more.

Thanks for turning me onto Bone’s site, I really enjoyed it. No offense Bone, but I would pick “A Boy Named Sue.” I could see you really coming out swinging some day!!

Oh, I know why, Panthergirl. I have myself singing that song on my answering machine 🙂

    I like to win things.

Got to be George Thorogood, “Bad to the Bone.”

Got it! Desperado. Seinfeld reference implied. Does he stare off into space though when he hears it?

I’m totally going with “A Boy Named Sue” . . . I agree, it just fits Bone. (what little I know)

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
