First a post on doing nothing, then a test about me!!!!!!!!!!!

February 19, 2006 By pia

Courting’s been nominated for a Koufax award, best writing, blog.  I put the reasons why Savannah 3, our computer, Savannah 2, our laptop, and Toto our imaginary dog–but never tell him that–think we deserve our nomination.  Tried to talk them out of it–but never fight two Savannah’s and a Toto!

Was just leaving a comment at Josh’s site about my progressive Jewish sleep away camp where all we had to do was–nothing, basically, but have sleep outs–and make the camp site, have socials, once a week have a big discussion about current events–act out a skit comparing Maimonides, Moses, and Martin Luther King Jr, but that was all for the week.

Yes I went to a camp where nothing reigned.  Don’t think Larry David went there.  Howard Stern did; he still talks about it.

He was on my life long friends Western trip, where we camped out to the Grand Canyon and back, met a lot of great people, slept in a jail–really, when our tents were blown over by massive winds, stayed in a farm in Kansas, and still managed to do nothing very well.  If you can name this camp, leave a comment.  If you can name the division I went to–my sister doesn’t count–please explain how you knew it.

Just realized that I have had life long experience in doing nothing well with a social conscience tinge.

Found this at Ally’s.  Not usually into tests, It can be found behind the “tests” link, but this seems interesting. It’s a Johari window personality thingie.  There’s a darker one, but I thought I would begin by being slightly gentle about myself.

Some of you should feel obligated to do this.

Thanks Ally, this was a great find; I think.

Will be leaving it up for several days as I really really want your input!!!!!!!!!  If you haven’t read my dad’s feeling upon adopting me–it’s two posts down

It’s really absorbing, I keep going back and checking mine.

Your decluttering, plus , has almost (almost) got me inspired to tag my own posts …

Bugger, sorry, really boshed that up … my blog-mate Rhys has generated a tag generator, here: http://www.gospelrhys.co.uk/2006/01/technorati-tag-editor.html
which has contributed to me *almost* being motivated to tag my own posts 🙂

Hmmm… how on earth do you find this stuff ? I find myself almost staying away from that test thing for fear that it will take over the rest of my day.

I know, I’m slow, but did you create your own Johari Window too? I tried to click on it to contribute but didn’t see anything. This is going to be my tell it to me Tuesday this week actually.

Oh and where do we go to vote for you?

I totally did it , it told me I had better make sure it was “my pia savage”…not some other person’s pia savage…………lol that made me laugh. I’m totally doing both of them. Progressive Jewsih Sleep Away Camp…you and Howard Stern…
sounds quite….progressive. I can’t name it of course…I went to progressive catholic sleep away camps or to camps in the coast of Australia where there was no religion.

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
