Will, Grace, The Kiss, and Lucia

February 5, 2006 By pia

Have a post on Betty Friedan @ www.teambio.org   Remember that address; BIO’s taking on a life of its own.  When I put the pages in on Courting this week will include this somewhere: It’s a part of Coopers latest post, and is too true.

Pia has made me queen of modified comments and she is buying me a country ( or getting one of her past lovers to get me one) so that I have something worthy to rule. She is special like that. Also her writing is getting better every day maybe because she has a new computer( that someone had better go over and help her work on as computers do not seem to be her specialty). Some people always need maids of one kind or another don’t feel bad Pia. You can write we don’t expect you to know anything about the simple things. 😉

Also taking Belinda up on her very very kind offer to teach me Southern.  Have seen too many Tenessee Williams movies; and also believed that Don Johnson in Miami Vice represented the South though I know Miami well, and Southern it ain’t.  But he sure dressed well, and I have no excuse; I should have could have bought apartments in South Beach, but would have been haunted by the ghosts of grandmothers past, including one of mine.

When I first began Courting I was resistant to Will & Grace, because Will and Jack are alive, and so many of my friends had died.  Also I did find myself relating to Grace just a bit too much.  She even has the big hair problem.

However I have become a different and more wonderful me since I began Courting, and DVR’d as many repeats as I could.  Have to say that the acting blows me away; it can be like watching a wonderful Broadway play at times, and is much much cheaper.

Here’s where I say how disappointed I have been on the caliber of most Broadway plays in the past several years.  Not worth even half or a tenth of the hundred bucks most shows cost retail now.

But Will, Grace, Karen and Jack; they never fail to deliver and watching them mature is a pleasure.

It’s both immature and stupid of me to want every gay themed show to center around HIV, AIDS, death and dying.

Not going to go into a deep analysis or synopsis; but as soon as Will met a man with a fiancee for immigration purposes, I knew that the man and his fiancee would break up; Will would be heart broken, and Grace would come to the rescue and offer to marry Will’s new love so that he could stay here.

Wasn’t counting on the kiss between the two men, Brokeback Mountain seemed almost tame.  Kind of made me wish that I had a male around….

I knew that Grace was going to offer to marry Will’s new boyfriend because, in the early 80’s, Lucia offered to marry Patrick’s boyfriend so that he could stay in the country legally.

It was a small but much photographed ceremony in City Hall; the reception usually known as lunch was in Chinatown.  Patrick’s boyfriend missed most of it as he had to go to work; he did come to have his picture taken, and then left.  Don’t even think Patrick really missed him.

We had a champagne reception that night at Patrick’s apartment; Lucia’s new husband who was a waiter at La Folie, a restaurant near my apartment on 63rd Street, arrived in time to have his picture taken with Lucia and the last bottle of champagne.

There are times when I watch Will & Grace when I wonder why my life is being replayed.  Know Grace’s reputation for turning them?

In my defense this only happened in college when boys were exploring their sexuality.  Think that they thought of me as a sweet girl with a penchant for sarcasm.

Oh I don’t know; it’s Superbowl weekend.  Will probably not be posting much this week as I have too recover from the Superbowl.   No I have many things to do; places to go; people to see.  Then again I might post more than ever.  I can’t be trusted when it comes to blogging; too much the blogging fool.

I will be making pages with favorite posts, various stories and all the things I have said I would do previously.  This week seemed to have only twelve hours to a day, and time just slipped away.

Just saw that episode last night so it was a very well timed post! We download it so that we can keep up here in Spain!

I loved this post… had a beautiful flow to it.

Know all about the poofy hair! My life as made a living hell in elementary school when kids had their fun taunting me. My mom did not know how to bring out the curls… hell, I didn’t even know it was curly… and so she brushed it and made me put a friggin’ bow on the top. I looked like a stick with an afro flattened on the top. I would have made fun of me too!

Good luck with your goals and have a great weekend Pia!

Ooooh! Is the bohemian number one?!?! This deserves a funkay jig!

We love Will & Grace too – one of the few shows that still makes me laugh out loud.

Of course you realise now that whenever I see Grace in the show I’m going to think of you 🙂

I used to love Will and Grace when it first started, but I had to stop watching because it became too centered around guest stars and snippy one liners. I knew it was bad when even the likes of Eric Stoltz and Harry Connick Jr didn’t make me tune in.

I still think Debra Messing has great comedic timing though.

By the way, I love the subtle changes in the layout!

I wish for layout design skills. I don’t even know how to make a banner! Also? Don’t kid yourself. You’ll be blogging. 😉

You know you will be blogging… we have all heard that story before. LOL! Love reading you… learn more and more about you each time. 🙂 Thanks Pia… or should I say Grace.

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
