This is my version of a sticky. There are no comments and an edited post from the archives below, and below that my new personal favorite post.
TomB, the blogger and politico, formerly known as the Cranky Liberal, announced some changes at BIO today. As many of you know I’m no longer on rotation but reserve the right to rant when I have to.
There are many people who can write straight politics better than I can. Now that the radical right doesn’t come swooping down to judge my morals, sanity and beliefs, I feel freer to write. I have linked to a post from last year so you can see what I am talking about.
I’m a fiscal Conservative and more Conservative than you would think on many issues. However The First Amendment rules and is First for a reason.
Every persons opinions counts and should be heard. This doesn’t mean that people, bloggers in particular, should be judged because of their views. I was very disillusioned last year and would have given blogging up if not for the support of such people as Cranky and Doug
The Dawg and I first met before he began Waking Ambrose. I have linked to Prattle, his weekend blog, as it truly shows what a free thinker Doug is.
While I will do politics on Courting, I won’t debate. Last year cured me of any desire to debate anybody. Courting is mostly a personal blog, though I have had personal posts picked apart. As I have lived all my life in New York with two years in Cambridge/Boston, I wasn’t prepared for my morals and lifestyle to be judged. In New York nobody would think of telling a person her values suck unless she was a crack addict with a child she’s abusing. That’s an extreme example.
I believe that only my parents had the right to judge that, and while I did give them cause to be concerned at times, they never judged
I don’t understand nor care to understand fake morality. Sexuality is natural and something that can be written about. I’m not into explicit sexual descriptions, but support people who are. I even believe that neo-Nazis have the absolute right to state their views as long as they don’t advocate destruction of any kind. Have a bit more trouble with “defamation.” For that I turned to people who are more expert than I am.
Many of you may be thinking “what is she talking about?” That’s good as the blogosphere has changed greatly since last year.
There are so many great people out in the blogosphere who might not agree with each others views but believe that they have a right to be expressed. That’s what America is about to me. Just don’t expect me to debate. I locked my debating shoes away.
Followed the links in Coopers site and was rewarded with this
a personal blog is for you… and for those of us who like reading about you and what is happening in your life. I treat mine like a journal, or along chatty letter to a friend.
come to BIO and we’ll rant together, but it’s nice to see you happy here.
