HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOMBAT

May 15, 2007 By pia

The Wombat turns 21 today. Finally completely legal. I think I stole Cooper’s line, however….I do remember Cooper telling me that she was born legal.

The post was timed to go up at midnight. I should have checked.

This post didn’t work. It ranged from Clapton singing “Layla” to Clapton/Mayer to Clapton/Dylan to Dylan, young and old, to Shatner. Think of it as a virtual you tube marathon.

Hey, EW you almost got the five minute some seconds long video of Shatner singing to George Lucas

Hope you have a wonderful birthday.

I think 21st birthday’s are overrated. Usually.

Spent mine in another country I wasn’t enamored with, with a man I was so not enamored with, I almost ran home four or so months later and did marry somebody I was almost enamored with. I had been very enamored with him.

Anyways, there might be a second part to this as I believe a birthday isn’t just a day but a week, a month, a state of mind.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ESOTERIC WOMBAT!!!

Sorry it took me so long to leave a comment here. It’s been a complicated day and I’ll tell you more off the record.

And thank you so much for thinking of me. I can’t express how great I felt reading it. That Layla clip is my favorite live Clapton clip. Not that it’s necessarily the best musically speaking. His rendition of the song was fantastic at the Crossroads Guitar Festival. The way he caught his bassist off guard even though George Terry knew what was going on the whole time. And the first note the dude hit on bass very clearly (to me) said, “okokok I’m on it.”

And you of course know that when Bob and Eric share the stage I’m going to be watching intently. I didn’t get the one with John Mayer to load but I’m pretty sure I’d seen it. I was really hoping to hear them trade vocals, but ’twas good.

And Shatner is, of course, Shatner. Though it’s demonstrated a couple of times in BL that he’s a competent singer.

Again, thank you so much. *hugs*

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
