Wow it's a New Year

December 28, 2007 By pia

I think we’re over the hump, apartment renovation wise. Yes I have a living room!! And bedroom. I mean they look habitable and decluttered. Had a useless kitchen cabinet. Nobody could figure out the problem. Change of knobs and screws and a few other minor things, and yes I have a kitchen cabinet!

There’s a new 3WW below this. This post has become about Marty TankleffNew York State has begun an investigation. It boggles the mind that with all the evidence they have against another person and none against Marty the DA’s office probably wants him to accept a plea bargain My father died around the time of Marty’s appeal. That was almost seventeen years ago. My parents were in awe of Marty’s aunt and uncle and their relentless work to have Marty freed. They were friends.

This case happened in Suffolk County, Long Island in a rich, supposedly sophisticated community

As soon as the bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Tankleff were found, Martin Tankleff accused his father’s embittered business partner, Jerard Steuerman, of being involved. Mr. Tankleff and his supporters have complained for years that the police never investigated Mr. Steuerman as a suspect even though he owed Seymour Tankleff $500,000, was in the house the night of the attacks, left suicide notes a week later, changed his appearance and fled to California under an assumed name.

I hope this going to be a great New Year for Marty Tankleff and his family.

Marty didn’t show the “right emotions” and I believe wasn’t properly appreciative of his new car or wanted a better one or a boat–I forget, and was adopted. Nobody is bringing that up now but it did play a large part in the case then. “Everybody knows” about us adoptees.

My father died around the time of Marty’s appeal. That was almost seventeen years ago. My parents were in awe of Marty’s aunt and uncle and their relentless work to have Marty freed.

I’m entering week seven of the renovation and have lost any remaining sanity. I have been “ordered” to have people over for champagne on New Years Eve so I guess I will. They can come at their own risk. I so hope I make the money back in spades. It is a very beautiful construction zone.

I was just looking at my site meter. Love Google. If you search for Jewish whore you will find me. In 05 I was called “lobotomized Jewish whore,” so I wrote a story about one. I actually like the story. It was a sort of precursor to Colliding Worlds.

I don’t miss being called such things though I’m a contrary person and if you’re going to diss me I will find some way to use what you said. You will think I’m even dumber. I did find being called a moral relativist flattering and everyone knows it’s the opposite.

Sorry if this doesn’t make much sense. Been inhaling paint fumes 🙂

I know not about Marty Tankleff’s case in great depth but I do remember your having mentioned it before. Just saw the video and the injustice of it all is horrible. What always comes to mind for me is how do you come to grips with all those years lost? All that you could have done with your life, all that you could have lived had it not been taken away from you so cruelly? The fact that he is there smiling and being so calm and sweet is amazing… I would be a damn mess!

Your apartment will sell! It will and all you want you will get FO SHO! Come on 2008, make it happen1

And thank you for the linkage below oh my dear audience of one! 🙂

    MWAH! (Oh… it’s kisses…) 🙂

    Happy New Year to you.

Leave it to you to note the Dan Fogelberg Christmas time connection. I was so saddened by that too. No one else mentioned it though and since it was a rehashed post, I didn’t even throw it in myself. Shame on me:(

Good luck on the renovation. I hope we see pics of the final product!

About Me

I live in the South, not South Florida, a few blocks from the ocean, and two blocks from the main street. It's called Main Street. Amazes me too.

I'm from New York. I mostly lived in the Mid-Upper East Side, and the heart of the Upper West Side. It amazes me when people talk about how scared they were of Times Square in the 1970's and 1980's.

As my mother said: "know the streets, look out and you'll be fine."

What was scary was the invasion of the crack dens into "good buildings in good 'hoods." And the greedy landlords who did everything they could to get good tenants out of buildings.

I'm a Long Island girl, and proud of it now.
Then I hated everything about the suburbs. Yet somehow I lived in a few great Long Island Sound towns after high school.
