Winter Soldier is Iraq Veterans against the war. Think every American is morally bound to help. My thanks to Wadena for showing me the way there.
I was thinking last night that Viet Nam was the backdrop of my life forever until my 20’s. There were so many horrible things about Viet Nam. The troops who came back so screwed up and got no help–except from those of us who protested the war. Winter Soldier is taken from the group of soldiers who got together in 1971 to expose the horrible farce happening in Viet Nam.
There was a draft during Viet Nam. No guy I grew up with went. Many so called “supporters” found their way out, including a certain president.
Now we have no draft–it’s truly a class war–or people in The National Guard–or regular military who signed up basically so they could get an education, learn a trade, and found out after the fact they signed up for endless recalls to Iraq.
When I began to blog this country was more divided than it ever was when we were in Viet Nam. But things happened. The mishandling of Katrina. We began to get back together.
We don’t need to have another Viet Nam.
I know too well the problems with the economy, but we can’t forget America is a country at war. A war most of us don’t want.
McCain has said he will stay a hundred years if necessary. What are the Democratic candidates saying? I support Obama, but if he forgets to talk about Iraq I might not vote for president
Five years in Iraq next week. Five years too many.
March 19th is the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq. As a blogger you have a voice. Use it.
I don’t care if the rest of the world hates us. I care that America does the right thing. There’s only one right thing in this case
One more thing. I’m glad Spitzer resigned. But the Republican’s were drafting an impeachment–for what? Sex again.
It’s not too late to impeach Bush. It would be the right thing to do. His crimes are much more serious.
