Here’s a link to the article I was quoted in on the doorman’s strike. Have always believed The Christian Science Monitor is about the only paper in America with integrity. Also really like Stephen Humphries who interviewed me. As in, I liked him, before he contacted me. Now I love him
Letters to the Press about me
Newsday did a group interview on baby boomers who blog. It was on the retirement page. I know any publicity is supposed to be good publicity, but I don’t plan on retiring anywhere in the near future.
My close friends, who are around my age, all laughed at the page placement. Most of my friends do have dependent children, elderly parents and many financial obligations for many years to come. Others just won’t be able to retire because they either don’t have a pension, or it and Social Security won’t be enough for retirement. Still other friends have no desire to retire until carted off to the sanitarium or the mortuary. Other people go to nursing homes or assisted living facilities; we’re going to sanitariums.
The thing about baby boomers is that we didn’t all have children in our 20’s. We didn’t all travel the roads frequently traveled in the past; we made new ones. Or we hiked the steepest trails with the most branches.
That’s what sets baby boomers apart. That’s the one thing that makes us special. And that’s the one thing that seems to be overlooked in this quest to make baby boomers early onset geriatrics–with apologizes to Doug for changing his line.
Why some of us haven’t even begun to experience the wonders of menopause. Think I’m speaking only about women, but these days….
